Valdez 5+/Astros win +106

When it comes to pitching well, Framber Valdez continues to take the ball and deliver. In the month of May, Valdez has a 42-11 K-BB ratio. That’s enormous. He reached the 5 strikeout mark in every start in May and even surpassed it. He has been dealing and four of his six starts he allowed just one earned run.

The Pirates aren’t that good and yesterday was an outlier. I expect Valdez to deliver once again and the run support to follow behind him.

Fried 5+/Yankees win -115

Before his outing against the Dodgers, he had just 10 earned runs in 11 starts. It was quite efficient and Fried overall has been very good for the Yankees.

The Guardians are a good team and showed it in last nights win. But I expect the Yankees offense to bounce back and put runs on the board. Five is very doable for Fried, as he went on to hit that make in all but one start in the month of May.

This Guardians team does have a good plate approach and has the 9th fewest strikeouts, but I will be defying logic and riding with the strikeouts.

Pepiot 5+ / Leiter 4+ +116

Pepiot striking out five is the benchmark. Each starter in this series against the Rangers has reached the mark or even surpassed it. Pepiot can very well reach that and against an offense that has been prone to the strikeout and most of all; poorly executing.

As for Leiter, it’s hard to make of where his mark is. He has the velocity, but also really good stuff on his pitches. Four seems like an ideal sweet spot, and that’s even with the Rays hitting the ball well. Both of these seem doable and would make for a feel good pick.
