Shohei Ohtani 2+ Total Bases (-125)

Yep. I will hammer this one down. Ohtani has been wonderful against the Marlins in his career. Yes, Sandy Alcantara could be a road block, but he has not been efficient this season.

In his career, Ohtani is hitting .274 against the Marlins and has 17 hits, with nine going for extra bases. Also, he has six home runs, so he is prone to mashing the baseball. Not to mention, made a bit of history last year against the Marlins.

Not only do I think he gets at least two total bases, I am taking him to do deep in this game.

Mets Money line (+100)

This one boils down to the pitching. Both teams have good offenses and have premiere players that come to the plate and deliver. I do like the Mets as underdogs due to who they have on the mound.

Is Griffin Canning the sexiest name on the mound? Nope. Has he been good? Yep. The Mets pitching lab has been stellar yet again. Canning has a 2.61 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He is walking batters 10.6% of the time, which don’t love that against this DBacks team. But he does get the punch outs, so there is that element. Ryne Nelson also has not good great.

Nelson has a 5.82 ERA, which not the best. But he is limiting his base traffic which is the nice part. He struggles to get batters to chase and whiff, but he does limit his walks and can get the punch outs without getting barreled to death.

I still like Canning overall, (even as a DBacks fan), but this ought to be yet another good series between the two.

Carlos Rodon 6+ Strikeouts (-125)

I am going to simply ride the hot hand and hope the trend continues. Rodon has 6+ strikeouts in his last five outings. Whether it’s a win or a loss, Rodon is hitting this mark for strikeouts. The Padres pose a good threat, due to their offense being good. Rodon last pitched against them in 2024 and had just two strikeouts. Take that as you will or ride the trend. I’m riding the trend and Rodon is at home.
