Ballpark Bets: A Good Day for Strikeouts

Paul Skenes 6+ Strikeouts (-150)

This one is lofty, especially after his last start. But given how that start went, I can easily see Skenes coming out with a vengeance and the poor Cardinals are on the bad end of it.

Skenes has yet to secure a win against the Cardinals in his career. But he has had 7+ strikeouts in each of his four starts against them. Today is a good day to make that five, even though the Cardinals are a pesky good offense.

Chase Dollander 4+/Jackson Jobe 4+ (+128)

This one has easier odds, but the team he is facing is quite good. The Tigers do have an offense that can rake and they have performed quite well to aid what is the best rotation in baseball. For Dollander, he has shown he can at least get to this mark for his punch outs. Dollander made five starts in April and reached the four strikeout mark in four of those starts. It’s doable and he has shown flashes of promise and brilliance on what’s been a lowly Rockies season.

Jobe is certainly a gamble, but against the Rockies you can hammer the strikeouts. No team strikes out more than the Rockies do, so even for Jobe this is a good bet to make.
