AEW Dynamite: World Championship Rematch Set for Next Week
Jon Moxley isn’t going away after losing the AEW World title to “Hangman” Adam Page at All In Texas.
Last night on Dynamite, Hangman accepted Moxley’s challenge for a rematch on next week’s show.
The only stipulation is that nobody will be allowed at ringside.
Page opened the show with a decisive win over Wheeler Yuta, one of Moxley’s Death Riders.
The champ threated to hang Yuta with a chain but then stopped and said, “Nobody’s coming to help you!”
Another Death Rider, Claudio Castagnoli, lost the main event to Mark Briscoe. Moxley’s challenge came at the end of the post-match brawl.
ATHENA IS CIRCLING
Athena wore a shark fin on her head to promote Discovery’s Shark Week, and she is stalking AEW women’s champion “Timeless” Toni Storm.
Storm defeated Athena’s minion, Billie Starkz. After the match, Athena tried to cash in the title shot she earned at All In Texas, but Alex Windsor saved the champ.
TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT
FTR defeated JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Speedball Mike Bailey) to kick off an eight-team tournament for a shot at The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW tag team title.
Adam Copeland, who is not allowed to be near FTR manager Stokely Hathaway, hired The Hurt Syndicate to beat up FTR after the match.
MJF, who wants to regain the AEW World title, was upset that Syndicate members Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley were helping Copeland instead of him. Lashley clarified that they are not MJF’s henchmen.
Will Ospreay announced that he has been suffering from neck problems for 10 months. He is hoping to compete at Forbidden Door in London next month. They must have good doctors in England.
Swerve Strickland defeated Hechicero by disqualification when Lance Archer interfered. Swerve brawled with Unified champion Kazuchika Okada after the match.
