AEW Dynamite: Samoa Joe Prepares to Challenge Jon Moxley for World Title

Samoa Joe looked unstoppable last night on AEW Dynamite, as he seeks to dethrone AEW World champion Jon Moxley in a cage match next week.

Joe defeated Claudio Castagnoli in a hard-hitting main event with the Kokina Clutch submission.

After the match, Joe attacked Claudio with a chair to avenge last week’s attack on his partner, Katsuyori Shibata.

Moxley has had a death grip on the AEW World title, but remember that it was Samoa Joe who ended MJF’s long championship reign in 2023.

OWEN HART CUP CONTENDERS

“Hangman” Adam Page and Will Ospreay opened the show with a face-to-face meeting. They will battle at Double or Nothing on May 25 in the finals of the men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

They didn’t fight last night, as the Don Callis Family challenged them to a match next week. Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander will take on Page & Ospreay.

Jamie Hayter spoke to Renee Paquette about Hayter’s upcoming Owen Hart Cup final match against Mercedes Mone.

The “CEO” attacked Hayter, and the fight spilled out into the arena. Mone stood tall and posed with the Cup.

Former ECW champion Rhino appeared in his hometown of Detroit. He challenged Nick Wayne for the Ring Of Honor TV title, but he lost after interference from Christian Cage.

THAT’S WHY THEY’RE ELITE

The Young Bucks teamed up with Ricochet to defeat Swerve Strickland, Speedball Mike Bailey & Mark Briscoe. Matthew Jackson pinned Swerve with a small package.

Another member of The Elite, Kazuchika Okada, was also successful. He defeated Kevin Knight, who suffered a pre-match attack at the hands of Rush.

Women’s champion “Timeless” Toni Storm won a four-way non-title match over Anna Jay, Penelope Ford, and Thunder Rosa.

Megan Bayne interfered, with Harley Cameron making the save. Storm made Ford submit to the TCM Chickenwing.

MJF attacked Top Flight in an attempt to convince Bobby Lashley to join The Hurt Syndicate. Because he hurts people! MJF already has “yes” votes from Shelton Benjamin and MVP.
