AEW Collision: Nigel McGuinness Returns to Defend Tony Schiavone
Announcers need to stick together, especially when one is 67 years old and the other is a former Ring Of Honor World champion.
Nigel McGuinness will step back into the ring this weekend. He signed a contract last night on Collision to team with Daniel Garcia against FTR.
McGuinness recently saved Schiavone from a spike piledriver by FTR, who were angry about Tony’s comments about their heel turn against Adam Copeland.
This match will take place on the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday in Glendale, Ariz.
FAMILY CELEBRATION
The Don Callis Family had a big night, winning three matches and accepting a challenge for the pay-per-view.
Konosuke Takeshita teamed up with Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) to defeat ROH champion Bandido & The Outrunners.
Kyle Fletcher beat Jay Lethal with a brainbuster, and Josh Alexander picked up the third win over AR Fox.
The Paragon duo of Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly beat the Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson).
After the match, Paragon leader Adam Cole challenged the Don Callis Family to a six-man tag team match at the PPV.
LUCHA MANIA
Mercedes Mone defended her TBS championship against Reyna Isis from Mexico’s CMLL promotion. Mone won by submission with the Statement Maker crossface.
CMLL delivered a classic six-man Lucha Libre match, as Templario, Mistico & Mascara Dorada beat Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.
In the main event, Komander teamed with Speedball Mike Bailey to beat Rush & Dralistico.
Bailey will challenge Kazuchika Okada for the Continental title at Double of Nothing.
AEW stuffed another match on to the lineup, as Harley Cameron & Anna Jay will face Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne.
