AEW Builds Anticipation for Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada at All In
Ever since Kazuchika Okada signed with AEW last year, fans have been looking forward to one more classic match with Kenny Omega.
That looks like the plan for the All In Texas show in July, and fans got a sneak preview last night on Dynamite.
Omega teamed with Kevin Knight, Mark Briscoe & Speedball Mike Bailey to face Okada, Ricochet & The Young Bucks.
Omega and Okada squared off briefly during the match, and Okada eventually pinned Briscoe after the Rainmaker lariat.
Omega is the AEW International champion, while Okada holds the Continental title. So their eventual clash could be a double title match.
HANGMAN ADVANCES
“Hangman” Adam Page defeated Kyle Fletcher in the main event to advance to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup against Will Ospreay.
Fletcher almost stole the win after a low blow and brainbuster, but Page kicked out after a two-count.
Hangman rallied to score the victory with the Buckshot Lariat.
On the women’s side, Mercedes Mone and Jamie Hayter have reached the Owen finals, which will take place on May 25 at Double or Nothing.
Mone and Hayter got into a scrap after AEW women’s champion “Timeless” Toni Storm beat Miyu Yamashita in a non-title match.
The Owen Hart Cup winners will get World title matches at All In Texas.
MAKE IT A CAGE MATCH
Samoa Joe is scheduled to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World title on May 14 in Chicago, but now it will be a steel cage match.
Joe holds the trios title with The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs). They beat Nick Comerato, Rhett Titus & Myles Hawkins last night.
Before heading to Japan for the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, Ring Of Honor TV champion Nick Wayne defeated former ROH champion Jay Lethal.
