WWE NXT: Speed vs. Power Championship Match Set for Heatwave
NXT Champion Oba Femi will defend his title this Sunday at Heatwave against Je’Von Evans.
Evans defeated Trick Williams to earn the championship match after hitting a double-springboard Diamond Cutter.
Evans, who is only 21 years old, has the chance to become NXT champion if he can beat the powerful Femi.
Last night’s show was in Philadelphia, but Heatwave (which was the name of a longtime ECW event) will take place in Lowell, Mass.
HARDCORE BRAWL
The show began with a hardcore battle between former buddies Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura.
At one point, Briggs duct-taped Inamura to the ropes and whaled on him with a kendo stick.
Inamura escaped, but Briggs eventually hit a moonsault to put Inamura through a table to win the match.
Ricky Saints defeated Jasper Troy after a pair of tornado DDTs.
TIME FOR A CHAT
Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe talked about Sunday’s match at Heatwave. This will be another battle of former partners.
Monroe called Grace “a reject playing a superstar.” Grace responded that she would show Monroe what ugly really looks like.
RIPPED FROM TODAY’S HEADLINES
The US-Canada Peace Summit was another talk segment on the show. Ethan Page and Chelsea Green represented Canada, while Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele were the USA contingent.
After the chat turned into a brawl, NXT General Manager Ava booked the four wrestlers in a match for Heatwave.
WOMEN’S ACTION
Fatal Influence defeated TNA Wrestling’s Elegance Brand in a six-woman tag team match. Jacy Jayne pinned Ash (formerly Dana Brooke) with the Rolling Encore lariat.
Jayne will defend the TNA Knockouts Title at Heatwave against Ash and Masha Slamovich, who was the special referee for this match.
