Miguel Amaya Suffers Devastating Injury In Toronto

As sports fans, we never want to see anyone get hurt. We would never wish ill upon the men and women who step on the field/court to entertain us. Sports are supposed to be fun. They’re supposed to be an escape from real-world problems, so that we can just relax and “breathe” for a little bit.

The problem with that theory? It’s the fact that heartbreak likes to creep in from time to time. That was especially true last night, when we witnessed Chicago Cubs’ Catcher Miguel Amaya take the NASTIEST FALL while trying to beat a throw to first.

Amaya, who has been with the Cubs for the past three seasons, was making his first start for Chicago after spending three months on the IL with a strained oblique muscle. On a rather routine ground out to short, the 26-year old catcher extended his leg towards the bag, but came up short. This resulted in his foot catching the corner of the bag, which locked his knee up, and sent the rest of his body flying forward in a terrifying fashion.

The veteran catcher was then carted off the field by medical personnel and trainers, after he was tended to on the field for quite some time. He was noticeably distraught by what transpired, as it was LITERALLY his first day back from his previous injury.

This…..this has to be one of the most upsetting moments of the entire season. Miguel Amaya, who we haven’t seen since May, has been working so hard to get back to playing baseball. But in his first game back with the team…..he gets injured. I mean……that is just such an unfair moment.

You truly hate to see things like this happen to good people. I hope for nothing but the best for Miguel Amaya, and that whatever this injury is isn’t as serious as it looked. But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
