Cal Raleigh Wins 2025 Home Run Derby

For the first time in MLB history, a catcher has won the Home Run Derby.

Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh blasted 54 home runs en route to becoming the first Mariner to win the Home Run Derby since Ken Griffey Jr in 1999.

With his father on the mound and his brother behind the plate, Raleigh took down Rays 3rd baseman Junior Caminero 18-15 in the final.

Raleigh barely even advanced out of the first round, needing a tie-breaker to edge Brent Rooker by 0.08 feet.

In the semi-final, Raleigh faced off against number one seed Oneil Cruz, who belted 21 home runs in the first round.

However, that wouldn’t matter as Raleigh smacked 19 compared to Cruz’s 13 to put him in the final, where he took down Caminero and became the first switch hitter to win the Home Run Derby.
