Why Berry and Stefanski are not on the hot seat for 2025

On January 4th, 2025, the Cleveland Browns ended their 2024 season with a 35 -10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore Maryland. The Cleveland Browns finished the 2024 season with a disappointing 3-14 record. This was following a 2023 playoff appearance despite a rash of injuries that season. Prior to the end of the 2024 season, Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam gave both Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and General Manager Andrew Berry a vote of confidence. They both returned for the 2025 Cleveland Browns season. Now as training camp is approaching speculation has them both in the hot seat. But are their jobs really in jeopardy?

On the local Cleveland Sports Talk Radio Station 92.3 the Fan, longtime Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot stated that “Kevin Stefanski is not on the hotseat, the Browns are not looking at this like a make-or-break year for this regime”.  She has a long track record of credibility when reporting and I believe her. But I also understand that the Browns must do better than 3-14 in 2025. And I am confident that they will do better this season, and the team’s owner believes that too.

To best understand where the Cleveland Browns are at right now you must pay attention to what they do and not what they say. The draft day trade to acquire future assets shows a front office not panicking or being impulsive to win now at all costs. The owner of the team last spring publicly took ownership of the horrible Deshaun Watson trade. The Browns front office addressed the quarterback position with four low-cost options in veterans and drafted rookies. They approached the offseason with purpose and not panic. The Cleveland Browns look at the 2025 season as the opportunity to build for the future and not a complete rebuild. And if you believe the team’s owner, the future will be led by both Berry and Stefanski.
