Seyia Suzuki is the biggest 2025 All-Star snub
The Chicago Cubs will be well represented in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game that takes place next week in Atlanta. Both Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker will be starting in the outfield for the National League. Starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was also named to the team. All three of those guys are certainly deserving to be there, but there is one huge name from the Cubs that is missing – Seiya Suzuki. To be fair, the designated hitter is a crowded spot in the National League. No one is going to argue that Shohei Ohtani, who was voted the starter, should not be there. He’s having another stellar season with 30 home runs, 56 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases through Sunday’s action. Ohtani is the biggest draw in the sport.
Former Cub Kyle Schwarber is the backup DH for the NL. Schwarber is having a great year as well with 27 home runs and 63 RBIs. Those numbers are really good, but not good enough to have him in there over Suzuki. Seiya leads MLB in RBIs with 77. He is hitting .263 with 25 home runs and 22 doubles. The 25 home runs are already a career-high.
There is still a chance that Suzuki could get added if someone is not available to play. He was only in the DH category this year because that has been his primary role this season, but he has appeared in 29 games in the outfield. That should make him available as a replacement in the outfield if someone like Corbin Carroll, who just returned from an injury over the weekend, decides not to play in the All-Star Game.
