I Need Trish Stratus To Beat Tiffany Stratton At Evolution
As someone who was born in the 1990’s, I can tell you right now that I LOVE when athletes and entertainers make a return to the limelight. Whether it’s a professional athlete being tapped for the Hall-of-Fame, or a wrestling legend wanting to make “one last run;” the nostalgia of it all is something special, and makes me feel less old than I already am.
That is why when Trish Stratus made her return to confront WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton this past Friday on SmackDown….the child in me started to freak out more than the guy in the front row who gave her a high five during her entrance.
TRISH STRATUS RETURNS 👏

TRISH IS BACK! My original wrestling crush made her return to the WWE in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she confronted “Tiffy” and Jade Cargil in the center of the ring. She came out to help promote the upcoming Evolution PPV on July 13th, where we will see an entire card dedicated to the women’s division. Not only that; the 7-time Champion also made a case for her to face Stratton for the Women’s Championship, stating that it would be nice for her kids to see their Mom hoist a title for the first time in their lives.

It was a monumental occasion that set the world a blaze, and I…..I’m all for it. I’m all for a Trish/Tiff bout at the second edition of the WWE’s all-female PPV. This is bound to be a fun clash between a Hall-of-Famer in Trish, and an up-and-comer who is cementing herself as a major player in the world of professional wrestling.
But the question is….is it the “right move” for the company to make? Well if anything, you could say that we should’ve “seen this coming.” The company needed a way to implement the women of yesterday into this event. They needed more headliners to help sell the card. So to put arguably the greatest women’s wrestler in history in a title match? That’s just a no brainer, from a marketing standpoint.
From a wrestling standpoint, however…..some fans have been saying that this felt like a “quick” and “disjointed” way to put a match together. It almost made the moment, and the PPV, feel like an “afterthought” of sorts. To those people, I say….
“Meh.”
I mean, I can see their point; sometimes when companies bring in legends to hype up an event, it can feel rather “forced” in a way. But for me…..I think this is a great plan that they have. Use the legendary status that Trish brings to the table to help build Tiffany Stratton’s image even more. Let them have a great match that (hopefully) steals the show…….but make sure Trish walks away with the belt.
It would set up for SO MANY different avenues that the company could take. They could have Naomi cash in the MITB contract at the end of the show, giving an extra bit of “meat” to her story, saying that she “won against a Hall-of-Famer.” They could have Trish hold on to the belt until SummerSlam, where she will eventually drop it to Jade to help get her over.
The possibilities are endless! But in the end, the bottom line is…..I just want to see this gorgeous woman hold the gold one last time. I’m not just saying that because she’s hot. It would just make me feel less old. But in the end, as always……what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
