It’s Time To Break Down Alvin Kamara’s First Pitch At Wrigley

I never thought I would be saying this…….but New Orleans Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara threw out the first pitch at yesterday’s Cardinals/Cubs game. Yes, you read that right; Alvin Kamara, someone who does not play for a Chicago sports franchise, was at Wrigley Field tossing a ball at good ol’ ‘Clark the Cub.’

The 5x Pro-Bowler was reportedly in town for the NASCAR street race in Chicago, and the Cubs brass thought it would be a great idea to invite him to Wrigley to “kick off” their game against St. Louis. (See what I did there?) But when he stepped foot on the mound and tossed that ball towards our beloved mascot…..let’s just say he gave fans a moment that they will remember forever.

There…….there are wild pitches in this world, but THAT throw brought the phrase to a whole new level. The 2017 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, who is used to running balls more than throwing them, SPIKED the snot out of that ball in the left-handed batters box. If Clark wasn’t on his toes, that thing could’ve taken out the kneecaps of every human being behind home plate.

But did that monstrosity of a pitch stop the former Tennessee Volunteer from showing his competitive spirit? ABSOLUTELY NOT! AK41 would end up giving Clark the universal sign for “give me the damn ball back,” and told the crowd; “I’M THROWING ONE MORE!” He called for a mulligan to hopefully save face with the Chicago crowd, which ended up resulting in a MUCH LESS embarrassing ‘ball.’

It was a rough showing for one of the premiere names in the National Football League. But THANKFULLY, Kamara at least kept the ball in play during both attempts. THANKFULLY, he didn’t rifle the thing into another area code, like the celebrities that came before him…

Hopefully he sticks to his day-job. He is much more qualified to do that. But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
