Drew McIntyre: “The Viper” Randy Orton Has Lost His Bite
Cody Rhodes opened last night’s Smackdown with his King of the Ring crown and talked about regaining the WWE title from John Cena at SummerSlam.
Randy Orton said he should have beaten Rhodes, but he hesitated to deliver the punt to the head. Drew McIntyre came out to say “The Viper” has gone soft, so Orton gave him an RKO.
McIntyre will wrestle Orton at next week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.
CONDESCENDING CHARLOTTE
Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defeated Michin & B-Fab and The Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre & Piper Niven) to earn a shot at the WWE tag team titles next weekend at Evolution 2.
Flair went to the top rope and gave Bliss a pat on the head. The referee counted it as a tag, so Bliss won the match with her Twisted Bliss splash from the top rope.
Flair & Bliss will challenge Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez, along with teams from Raw and NXT.
The Wyatt Sicks continued to dominate the other Smackdown teams. They beat Berto (of Los Garza), Johnny Gargano (of #DIY), Montez Ford (of The Street Profits), and Chris Sabin (of Motor City Machine Guns).
The Wyatts’ Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis will challenge The Street Profits for the WWE tag team title next week.
Meanwhile, Andrade & Rey Fenix continue to gain steam. They defeated Nathan Frazier & Axiom.
PICK YOUR CHALLENGER
This week on Raw, World women’s champion Iyo Sky got to choose her challenger at Evolution 2. She picked Rhea Ripley.
WWE women’s champion Tiffany Stratton received the same opportunity on Smackdown. She selected WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus.
US champion Solo Sikoa named the latest version of his group “My Family Tree.” Members include JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, and Tala Tonga (formerly known as Hikuleo).
Solo & Mateo lost the main event to Solo’s former Bloodline mates, Jimmy Uso & Jacob Fatu.
Smackdown will come from Nashville next week, with a special appearance by country singer Jelly Roll.
