Josh Hines Allen Got to Speak on Coach Coen and Travis Hunter
On Monday, two-time Pro Bowl Edge Rusher Josh Hines Allen was a guest on the FS1 show Speak hosted by Joy Taylor, former Boston Celtic Paul Pierce, and former Jacksonville Jaguar Will Blackmon. During the segment, JHA was asked about head coach Liam Coen, 2025 2nd overall pick Travis Hunter, and franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Taylor asked Hines about the culture under his rookie head coach. He commented, “When you think about our culture, I think it’s competitive, having fun, and doing what you’re supposed to do. . . You can tell [coach Coen] has that demeanor — he’s been a coach his whole life. . . he learned from his father . . . I’m excited to get after it.”
Pierce asked JHA if he thought Coen was a “coach’s coach” or a player’s coach. “He’s a ‘player’s coach’,” said Hines, “but he knows how to tap into that ‘coach’s coach’ mentality.”

As a leadership figure within Jacksonville’s defense, it was inevitable that the conversation turned to the Jags rookie sensation and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter. JHA spoke on what impressed him about Hunter.
“The competitiveness — I think this dude is going to be a legit player in the National Football League on both sides of the ball. . . at the end of the day, he’s a playmaker. If he’s going to be the best wide receiver, best corner — doesn’t matter — he’s gonna make plays. . . ” JHA did keep his take grounded, however, saying that he looked forward to seeing what Hunter would bring in training camp once the players put on the pads while also acknowledging how well he’s performed in practice so far.
JHA also defended Lawrence when asked how he felt about his quarterback. “I love Trevor. I got his back. He’s my quarterback. No matter what. I think it’s all up to him. I think wherever he wants to be, he’s gonna take us there.”
While he acknowledged how central a figure Lawrence is for the Jags, Hines also expects to see more performance from the offensive line and running back corps in the ground game to continue to build on the passing game created with Brian Thomas Jr. emerging as a huge weapon at wide receiver.
