2025 Oregon Football: Season Preview, Schedule And Predictions

2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Record: 13-1, Big Ten Championship, L vs. Ohio State in College Football Playoff Quarters at The Rose Bowl (41-21)

Oregon had one of its best seasons in program history in 2024 before it came to a screeching halt. The Ducks ran through the regular season with a record of 13-0. It ended with a 45-37 victory over Penn State in the Big Ten Championship. Oregon entered the CFB Playoff as the No. 1 team but did not get any favors from the schedule, running into Ohio State in the quarterfinals. Dillon Gabriel led an explosive offense before becoming a third-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

OFFENSE: Dante Moore Leads a Reloaded Group

The Ducks lost a lot of production from an offense that scored 34.9 points per game. Gabriel is now in Cleveland while Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden are also off to the NFL. The tight end position even took a hit with Terrance Ferguson being gone.

Oregon has reloaded and it begins with Dante Moore. The quarterback spent his first season at UCLA before serving as Gabriel’s backup last season. He got the chance to watch in Oregon’s system and will now serve as the starter in 2025.

The wide receiver room might have the biggest turnover. Two major targets are now in the NFL while Evan Stewart recovers from an offseason knee injury. This leaves room for Dakorien Moore, who is. highly-touted recruit with great speed. Malik Benson came in from Florida State while Gary Bryant Jr. and Jeremiah McClellan will have to step into extended roles.

Along the offense line, the Ducks feature Isaiah World on the left side. The tackle was one of the top players in the portal out of Nevada and is a future NFL first-rounder. Alex Harkey will take over the right tackle spot while Emmanuel Pregnon comes in from USC as a All-Big Ten selection last season. The offensive line will be extremely important for a new quarterback and running game that could use improvement.

DEFENSE: Front Seven Headlines an Elite Unit

Unlike the offense, the defense for Oregon features plenty of returning talent that can help build one of the best in the nation.

Matayo Uiagalelei is coming off an All-Conference season with 10.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. He lived in the backfield last season and has blown up into one of the conference’s best pass rushers. The middle of the defense has three premiere players to rely on.

Teitum Tuioti was third on the team with 5.5 sacks last season. Devon Jackson had 47 tackles last season and will now be in a larger role for the Ducks. Bryce Boettcher makes up a tremendous trio of linebackers for Oregon this season. As good as the front seven is, the secondary will be just as loaded.

Theran Johnson comes in from Northwestern with four years of experience in the secondary. Purdue transfer Dillon Thieneman exploded for the Boilermakers over the last two years and has now taken a step up landing with Oregon in the transfer portal. The Ducks are expected to have one of the nation’s best defenses from top to bottom.
