Top Returning RBs in the SEC Heading into the 2025 Season

The SEC has some of the top talent in the nation across the board and that includes running backs.

The conference has produced an abundance of talent at the running back position over the years. In 2025, there will be a lot more talent taking the field ready to dominate in the trenches.

As we prepare for the 2025 season, we will be taking a look at some of the best players at skill positions around the nation.

Below, check out the top running backs in the SEC for the 2025 season.

8. Ahmad Hardy, Missouri

Hardy has to prove that he can withstand the pounding of an SEC schedule but has all the makings of a stud. The Louisiana-Monroe transfer totaled 1,351 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground last season. He was an extremely-coveted transfer and landed with the Tigers.

7. Le’Veon Moss, Texas A&M

Texas A&M will likely use two backs in Moss and Amari Daniels. Moss led the duo with 765 rushing yards last season as they combined for 18 touchdowns.

6. Davon Booth, Mississippi State

Booth was a rare Bulldog that did not enter the transfer portal. This is not a Mississippi State team that is going to be particularly good in 2025 but Booth will ace as the most explosive player on the offensive side of the ball. He rushed for 759 yards last season with nine total touchdowns.

5. Jadyn Ott, Oklahoma

Ott has a chance to be the top transfer running back in the conference. Oklahoma loaded up offensively with Ott and John Mateer taking over as quarterback. The portal was extremely kind to the Sooners. Ott was extremely productive for Cal. He rushed for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023 but suffered an injury that cut his 2024 season short. Ott has the makings of an SEC rusher.

4. Nate Frazier, Georgia

Georgia seems to pump out great backs each year. Frazier looks like the next one in line after averaging 6.3 yards per carry in SEC competition last season. He rushed for 671 yards and eight touchdowns. Frazier has a nose for the end zone and will get plenty of opportunities this season.

3. Jadan Baugh, Florida

Baugh took over as the primary back halfway through the 2024 season and produced right away. The sophomore back will be looking to build off the second half of last season for a Florida team that finished as hot as any team in the nation. With Baugh and DJ Lagway, the Gators will feature a pair of elite sophomores within the offense.

2. Caden Durham, LSU

Durham fits well into the system that LSU will run this year with Garrett Nussmeier under center. He rushed for 753 yards and six touchdowns last season. Durham is also used in the pass game. In a pro-style system, Durham has the potential to put up big-time numbers once again.

1. Quintrevion Wisner, Texas

Wisner will enter the 2025 season coming off a year where he rushed for 1,064 yards and five touchdowns. This is the most returning yards of backs who played in the SEC last season. The Arch-Manning era is on in Texas and this will open up many other avenues with Wisner being the main beneficiary. Expect the Longhorns back to have another monster season.
