Top 5 Mountain West QBs Heading into the 2025 College Football Season

The 2025 college football season is two months away and teams are beginning to round into form.

This includes the quarterback position, which remains the most important on the field regardless of conference.

Below, check out five quarterbacks to watch in Mountain West this season.

5. Micah Alejado, Hawaii

Alejado is a prized recruit out of his school, leading Bishop Gorman to three state titles. He came to Hawaii as the backup but enjoyed a breakout performance in the bowl game with 469 yards and five touchdowns. He enters the season as the projected starter for Hawaii and this brings excitement to the island. The offense has a chance to take a step forward and return to the explosive days of the past.

4. Walker Eget, San Jose State

Eget played in 12 games last season with seven being starts. He totaled 2,504 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Spartans. Eget has a knack for performing well against the tough competition. He brings great arm strength and poise in the pocket. With some experience under his belt, Eget is a breakout candidate.

3. Bryson Barnes, Utah State

Barnes is a Utah transfer that remained in-state to play for Utah State. He made three starts last season and appeared in nine games for the Aggies. He is a talented passer but makes a name for himself using his legs. This includes setting the program’s single-game rushing record by a quarterback with 193 yards against San Diego State.

2. Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, Colorado State

Fowler-Nicolosi is an intriguing quarterback that has a chance to be the best in the conference if he continues to improve. He led the conference in total offense last season with 3,433 yards. This led to earning Honorable Mention All-Mountain West honors.The Colorado state offense is in good hands with Fowler-Nicolosi back under center.

1. Maddux Madsen, Boise State

Madsen is the clear-cut top quarterback in the conference heading into the season. He led the Mountain West in passing yards with 3,018 and touchdowns at 23. Madsen is a volume passer and Boise State is not afraid to use its biggest weapon under center. He helped Boise State make an appearance in the College Football Playoff last season and the team can be among contenders once again in 2025.
