John Cena Hits CM Punk with “Pipebomb” on WWE Smackdown

CM Punk rocketed to stardom in 2011 by delivering “The Pipebomb,” a blistering speech against John Cena, Triple H, and the entire WWE establishment.

It was similar to Steve Austin’s iconic “Austin 3:16” speech, and Punk was wearing a “Stone Cold” shirt during his soliloquy.

Last night on Smackdown in Grand Rapids, Mich., Cena turned the tables on Punk. R-Truth had just defeated Cena by disqualification when Punk came to Truth’s aid.

Cena put Punk through a table with the Attitude Adjustment and delivered a parody version of “The Pipebomb.”

Cena even included shout-outs to friends who no longer wrestled for WWE, like Claudio Castagnoli. Cena called Punk a capitalist who changes his values like Cena changes T-shirts.

The WWE champion said Punk was only the “Best in the World” for a seven-minute span 14 years ago, while Cena is the greatest of all time.

Cena will defend the WWE title against Punk next Saturday at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.

KING AND QUEEN OF THE RING

Randy Orton defeated Sami Zayn to punch his ticket to the King of the Ring finals. Orton hit the RKO for the win. He will face the winner of Monday’s match between Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

Asuka beat Alexa Bliss with the Empress Impact knee strike. She will wrestle in the Queen of the Ring match against the winner the Raw battle between Jade Cargill and Roxanne Perez.

WHO DO YOU LOVE?

Solo Sikoa called Jacob Fatu to the ring to say “I love you, Jacob.” Fatu didn’t return the love, saying that Sikoa used him to build his version of the Bloodline.

They brawled and will face each other for Fatu’s US title at Night of Champions.

Charlotte Flair defeated Chelsea Green with the Figure-Eight leglock. Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, Green’s “Secret Hervice,” attacked Charlotte after the match. Alexa Bliss made the save.

LA Knight defeated Bronson Reed by disqualification when Bron Breakker interfered.

LOTS OF TITLE MATCHES

Next Saturday’s show in Saudi Arabia is called Night of Champions, but Friday’s Smackdown will feature three title matches.

Tiffany Stratton will defend the WWE women’s title against Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing match.

Women’s US champion Zelina Vega will take on Giulia. The Street Profits will defend the WWE tag team title against The Wyatt Sicks duo of Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis.
