Rangers Bats Quiet In 4-1 Loss To Royals
Yesterday, the Texas Rangers fell to the Kansas City Royals by a score of 6-3, but at times, the quality of at-bats was there.
On Thursday afternoon, that was not the case as Texas managed just 1 run on 3 hits in a 4- 1 loss to the Royals at Globe Life Field.
“You look at the results and you’re not liking them,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “He [Royals starter Michael Wacha] had a no-hitter going there, and it took us a while to get our first hit. He had a good mix going, [When] you face a good pitcher at the top of his game, you’ve got your hands full. Still, I’ve said this, you have to find a way to score and beat those guys too, and we just couldn’t do it. We have some guys right now that are trying to find their way, and I think that’s fair to say”.
Texas was hitless up until the 6th inning against Wacha until Wyatt Langford flipped a single into center field.
The Rangers lone run came in that same inning, when Marcus Semien hit a double that took a friendly bounce off the side wall down the left field line, allowing Langford to score from first.
On the mound, it was a bullpen day for the Rangers, and Shawn Armstrong pitched the first inning, allowing a pair of runs on a Vinnie Pasquantino home run.
After that, Jacob Latz came in and put forth one of the better outings of his career, going 5.2 innings, allowing just one run.
“What a job he did, terrific job,” Bochy said. “He gave us the length we needed, great job of saving the bullpen, he kept us in the ballgame and did everything he could.. He’s been throwing the ball well and did that again today”.
Nonetheless, it was another tough loss for the Rangers who seemingly just can’t find the consistent offense.
Despite that, the Rangers and their hitters will still continue to find their way out of this more-than-extended funk.
“I do think we haven’t had success, and yeah, that mounts on these guys, there are times where they’re letting out frustration show in the dugout because they’re disappointed, they wanna do better. You look at the overall game, we’re playing well on defense, we’re doing some good things there. We’re just not clicking and getting the barrel on the ball as consistently as we can”.
