Top 5 QBs in the Sun Belt for the 2025 College Football Season

The 2025 college football season is two months away and teams are beginning to round into form.

This includes the quarterback position, which remains the most important on the field regardless of conference.

Below, check out five quarterbacks to watch in the Sun Belt this season.

5. Colton Joseph, Old Dominion

Joseph emerged as the preseason third-string quarterback to the starter by Week 3. This lasted one week before he was moved back to the sideline but had to re-enter against Bowling Green following an injury. Joseph became the full-time starter and totaled 1,627 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is a dual-threat option that can use his legs to find success as well. Joseph has a high ceiling but is an unknown to this point.

4. Braylon Braxton, Southern Miss

Braxton began at Tulsa before breaking out last season. He threw 19 touchdowns to just two interceptions. His ability to take care of the football is something that intrigued the coaching staff and it will be important once again this season. Braxton has a strong that can push the ball down the field while also using his speed in the open field. If Braxton takes the next step, he can turn into one of the best players in the conference.

3. J.C. French, Georgia Southern

French returns for his second year as the Georgia Southern quarterback. He won eight games for the Eagles and set a new single-season record with a 66% completion rate. French threw 17 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. If he can cut back on the turnovers, there are high hopes for French under center.

2. A.J. Swann, Appalachian State

Swann has bounced around during his career. He played in 15 games at Vanderbilt to begin his career before transferring to LSU. He served as the backup to Garrett Nussmeier last season, making two appearances. Swann was a big recruit out of high school and has spent time in Power 4 programs. He has the experience of some of the top coaching in the nation. This could lead to incredible success in the Sun Belt.

1. Jaylen Raynor, Arkansas State

There are high expectations around Raynor heading into the season. He was the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2023 before starting every game last season. He threw 16 touchdowns while rushing for three more. Arkansas State reached eight wins and defeated Bowling Green in the 68 Ventures Bowl. The sky is the limit once again in the Sun Belt for Raynor and the Red Wolves.
