AEW Grand Slam Mexico: More Mone, More Titles
Mercedes Mone continued her run as “The Belt Collector” by winning the CMLL women’s championship last night at AEW Grand Slam Mexico.
Mone won the title from Zeuxis, adding the CMLL belt to the TBS title and four other global championships.
She will go for the big one at All In Texas on July 12 when she challenges “Timeless” Toni Storm for the AEW women’s title.
BUENAS NOCHES, AMIGOS
Before the opening 14-man tag team match, “Hangman” Adam Page spoke to the fans in Spanish about getting his hands on Jon Moxley.
Daniel Garcia, Adam Cole, Brody King, Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Bandido & Templario beat Dax Harwood, Konosuke Takeshita, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, Volador Jr., Hechicero & Kyle Fletcher.
The 62-year-old Atlantis pinned Harwood to win the match for the tecnicos (good guys).
Kazuchika Okada defeated Mark Briscoe and attacked him with the Continental title after the match.
MJF came to the ring wearing red, white, and blue, and he got booed out of the building. Mexican legend Mistico won their match by disqualification after a low kick by MJF.
SHOW ME THE PESOS
Hologram won the “4 Million Pesos High-Flying 4-Way” match, defeating Lio Rush, Ricochet, and Mascara Dorada.
Hologram pinned Lio Rush after a Portal Bomb to collect the riches.
MUCHA LUCHA
The main event was a 10-man tag team bout, with AEW World Jon Moxley teaming with Wheeler Yuta, The Beast Mortos & The Young Bucks against Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Katsuyori Shibata, Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay.
Moxley pinned Swerve with a rollup, and Page came to the ring for a brief brawl. The AEW heroes stood behind Page in his attempt to wrench the World title from the grasp of The Death Riders.
