USA Hockey Reveals First Six Members Of Olympic Team

After winning both the World Junior Championship and the Men’s World Championship for the first time in nearly a decade, Team USA will look to continue its success on the world stage in 2026.

On Monday afternoon, USA Hockey announced the first six members of the roster for the 2026 Milan Olympics, which will feature NHL players for the first time since 2014.

Forwards Jack Eichel, Austin Matthews, brothers Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, and defenseman Quinn Hughes, and Charlie McAvoy have been named the initial six.

“We’ve seen the unprecedented success of our U.S. teams on the international stage this past season, and we need to keep our foot on the gas,” said Bill Guerin, general manager of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team.

Each of the six played for Team USA during their run to the title game of the NHL’s Four Nations Faceoff.

Matthews captained Team USA during that tournament and very well could do so at the Olympics as well.

“The players we’ve named today represent excellence. They’re committed to the mission in front of us and excited about the opportunity to represent our country in the Olympics.”

2026’s Olympic Men’s Hockey tournament begins on February 11th in Milan, Italy, with the gold-medal game on February 22.

There is no doubt that a US vs Canada Gold Medal Game on the 22nd is top of mind for fans and especially the American players who look to get their Four Nations revenge on the biggest stage of International Hockey.
