Top 10 QBs in Big 12 for the 2025 College Football Season
The 2025 College Football season is just two months away and teams are beginning to take shape.
One of the top conferences in the nation is the Big 12 and many top quarterbacks will take the field to lead their teams.
For the most part, there are returners that will bring experience while some newcomers will look to make a name for themselves.
Below, check out the Top 10 quarterbacks for the Big 12 season.
10. Kaidon Salter, Colorado
It is a new-look Colorado team with Shedeur Sanders moving onto the NFL. The Buffaloes will turn to Salter, who looks to keep up the tradition of high-powered offenses under Deion Sanders. Salter entered the 2024 season with high expectations but faltered a bit at Liberty before transferring. He will look to regain that spark this year.
9. Jalon Daniels, Kansas
Daniels is a former Preseason Offensive Player of the Year within the conference. He has struggled with injuries during his career but played in 12 games last year. The Jayhawks will go as far as Daniels takes them.
8. Noah Fifita, Arizona
Losing Tet McMillan will not help Fifita this season but he has the ability be an elite passer once again. Arizona is not going to win any championships this season but Fifita is as exciting as they come in the nation.
7. Brehen Morton, Texas Tech
Morton threw for 3,335 yards last season. He fits into the tradition of big-armed quarterbacks at Texas Tech who can push the ball down the field. The Red Raiders did incredible work in the offseason transfer portal and this will go a long way in helping Morton.
6. Jake Retzlaff, BYU
Retzlaff was nearly a 3,000-yard passer last season. It would not be surprising to see him reach that mark in 2025. He brings great accuracy and experience to the BYU huddle. This competition has been an intense one this offseason but Retzlaff should come out on top.
5. Sawyer Robertson, Baylor
Robertson is one of the most intriguing quarterbacks in the conference. Robertson led Baylor last season while eclipsing 3,000 yards. Now, he is expected to make an even bigger leap for the Bears.
4. Rocco Becht, Iowa State
Iowa State might be the team to beat in the Big 12 this year. The has plenty to do with Becht being back under center. He threw for 3,505 yards and 25 touchdowns last season. He lost weapons on the outside but remains an elite quarterback within the conference.
3. Josh Hoover, TCU
Hoover finished second in the conference in passing yards last season. He has the chance to make an even bigger jump this season. When it is all said and done, do not be surprised to see Hoover even higher than this ranking but he is definitely a top-three options heading into the season.
2. Avery Johnson, Kansas State
Johnson was impressive during the Wildcats’ nine-win season in 2024. He was fifth in touchdown passes and added 2,712 yards through the air. Will Johnson be a Heisman contender? That is the ceiling for the Kansas State QB this season.
1. Sam Leavitt, Arizona State
There is no other option for the No. 1 slot than Leavitt after what he accomplished last season. The Sun Devils made a run to the Big 12 Championship before advancing in the College Football Playoff. Leavitt will have to exceed his performances if Arizona State wants to return.
