How the 2025 Vibe for the Browns feels different than 2024

On Tuesday June 10th, 2025, at the Cleveland Browns Cross Country Mortgage Campus training facility in Berea Ohio, the Cleveland Browns opened the 2025 mandatory minicamp. All players that are under contract were in attendance. The feeling with the Browns this year seems different than in 2024. In fact, it feels much better this season. Mainly that feeling is with the quarterbacks on the roster. Last year the Browns had three quarterbacks on their final 53-man roster and one of those quarterbacks was an albatross for the offense and the entire team.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was recovering from 2023 shoulder surgery and struggled to stay healthy since signing his $230 million dollar fully guaranteed contract. The Browns also traded three first round draft picks to the Houston Texans to acquire Watson services. Watson with the Browns never played to the level of his 2020 breakout season. His 2024 season came to an end after tearing his Achillies Tendon at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.  Watson suffered a setback in his rehab by retearing the same Achilles Tendon last February. His career with the Cleveland Browns is probably finished.

With a glaring need at the quarterback position the Cleveland Browns signed veteran free agent Joe Flacco, traded for former first round pick Kenny Pickett, and drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. All four quarterbacks are an upgrade from last seasons quarterbacks of Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, and Dorian Thomson-Robinson. In 2024 the Cleveland Browns experienced the worst quarterback play in over 20 years in the NFL.  And yet the team still won 3 games in 2024. What can Browns fans expect in 2025?

The early signs of trouble in 2024 were the joint practice reports with the Minnesota Vikings. The Browns offense was historically bad in those practices, and it also showed in the 2024 preseason. Browns fans dismissed the signs of a bad offense to being just preseason. But when the season started it didn’t get any better. Browns fans are expecting the team to be much better than 3 wins in 2025. We as Browns fans will get a better feel for how this team will perform this season in the joint practice reports with the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles. The preseason games can be another indicator of how good or bad this season can be for the Browns. But we will not truly know until kickoff on September 7th at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. Then we will know how the 2025 season can and will be for the Cleveland Browns. And it can’t be much worse than 2024.
