Predicting AL West 2025 All-Star Game picks

The 2025 MLB campaign is only six weeks away from the most exciting All-Star Game in all professional sports leagues, so it’s time to start making predictions on who plays in the game. The AL West will have a mixture of new and returning All-Stars.

Athletics: Jacob Wilson
Wilson is the clear All-Star pick for the Athletics. He’s slashing .357/.396/.504 with seven home runs and 31 runs in just under 60 games. His plate discipline is impeccable with a .058 K%, which is the second-lowest in the league, and he’s been a solid defender. The 23-year-old shortstop is having a breakout year and deserves to make his first career All-Star appearance.

Houston Astros: Hunter Brown and Jeremy Peña
The stats say it all for Brown: 8-3 record with a 1.83 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. Five of his 12 starts have resulted in shutouts and his 84 strikeouts are tied for eighth-highest in the league. Brown has been an obvious All-Star since April, it just needs to be official. This would be Brown’s first career ASG.

Peña has made less of a rumble than his teammate, but he’s still putting on a show. The shortstop is batting .309 and slugging .480 with 30 RBIs and 10 bases swiped. Although he might not beat out Bobby Witt Jr. for the starting job, Peña’s quiet success will likely be rewarded with his first All-Star berth.

Los Angeles Angels: Taylor Ward
Ward will take the cake as the Angels All-Star because of his powerful swing. He leads Los Angeles with 38 RBIs and 16 home runs, amounting to a .493 slugging percentage. Although he struggles with consistency, Ward’s go-big or go-home approach at the plate could come in handy in the AL lineup and would help him earn his first career accolade.

Seattle Mariners: Andrés Muñoz, Bryan Woo, Cal Raleigh
Seattle is having a field day with its pitchers, but Muñoz and Woo stand out at the best. This wouldn’t be Muñoz’s first ASG, but his 17 saves, 2.18 ERA and 0.086 WHIP are better than last year’s stats when he was a first-time All-Star, so he’s a shoo-in. Woo has received less praise for his pitching, but it’s still All-Star-worthy, with a career-best 2.82 ERA and .095 WHIP with 63 punchouts. His work shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Raleigh has been having the best season of his career after signing a six-year extension. Big Dumper’s 37 walks and league-leading 17 home runs have helped him achieve a .379 on-base percentage and .637 slugging percentage. As one of, if not the best, catchers in the league, Raleigh is guaranteed his first All-Star appearance.

Texas Rangers: Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi
Of course, the two Texas aces will make the All-Star team. deGrom has a 2.34 ERA with 66 strikeouts and Eovaldi a 1.56 ERA with 73 strikeouts. Both pitchers have WHIPs better than 1.00 and have allowed fewer than 20 runs while keeping home runs in the single digits in the same number of frames. Both veterans will add another All-Star award to their resume.
