WATCH: Roman Anthony Makes Escape In A Laundry Cart
Roman Anthony is the Taylor Swift of the Boston Red Sox organization. The mega-star of the Minor Leagues has been on the top of everyone’s mind ever since he was drafted in the second round of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft. He has been such an important fixture for baseball, and Massachusetts as a whole…..to the point where fans across the sport have been doing everything in their power to secure a piece of history from the 21-year old.
It’s such a chaotic scene whenever the OF steps out in public, to the point where the team actually had to pull off a Jason Bourne-style escape the other day just to get him onto the team’s bus.
Roman Anthony was put in a disguised rolling laundry bin so that he didn’t get mobbed by fans 😭 https://t.co/zwRKnsTSd4

This is such a crazy move by the Worcester Red Sox, as they tried to get the #1 prospect in all of baseball past the awaiting autograph seekers outside of the stadium door. It felt like a mini-version of what Elvis Presley had to deal with back in the day; just a sea (or in this case, a large pond) of fans, with stacks of memorabilia in their hands, hoping to come face-to-face with the best prospect in the league.
It’s a move that I, as a fan of the game, COMPLETELY understand. The team needed to get Roman on that bus as quickly as possible. They needed to secure their most prized commodity in that situation, otherwise he would’ve been stuck in that line for GOD KNOWS how long. It’s not an example of his “character,” or anything like that. It’s just a matter of “moving things along,” and keeping the team on schedule.
Sadly though…..there are some people in this world who don’t agree with what I’m saying. If you look in the comments/replies of wherever this video is posted, you will see COUNTLESS individuals asking the questions; “is this how you treat your fans” and “will someone PLEASE think of the children?”
They are painting Roman Anthony as a “bad guy” in this situation, and it just makes me think…..”why?” Why is he the bad guy? Why is he the villain in this scenario? Do they not see what’s actually going on around him? Or do they just see him as a celebrity, and immediately believe that he’s a terrible person?
I don’t understand, and I completely disagree with them. Why? Well it’s because when I watch that clip, I see two things;
1. I see a bunch of grown men at the beginning of the line carrying binders with multiple pages, as if they were going to a business meeting or a school. (Seriously; when was the last time you brought a BINDER to a baseball game?)
AND
2. There are only TWO KIDS visible in that line of fans, and they are squeezed in all of the way at the end by the buses.
Simply put; they’re autograph hounds, who are (allegedly) just looking to make a quick buck. They have literal BINDERS with them, and are people who haven’t swung a little league bat in ions. The only two children visible, who have nothing more than a single item in their possession, are missing out because literal ADULTS feel like they are more entitled in that situation.
It’s a sad sight to see, and is DEFINITELY not helpful when it comes to growing the game. But what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
