2025 Charles Schwab Challenge: Preview, Picks and Betting Odds
The PGA Tour is preparing for another event this weekend when some of the PGA Tour’s top players will descend on Colonial Country Club for the the next tournament of the year, the Charles Schwab Challenge. It is time to talk about who might be victorious this weekend and claim victory.
With this being the week after the second major of the calendar year, will we see an easy win for Scottie Scheffler in a limited field, or will David Riley repeat again in 2025?
Who will claim victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2025?
When it comes to making predictions/picks for golf, there is a method to my madness. The first step in the process is to take a look at the course, and past winners. Let’s see what the Charles Schwab Challenge has in store for fans this weekend:
Charles Schwab Challenge
Colonial Country Club, Par 70, 7,289 yards
Past Winners
2024: Davis Riley
2023: Emiliano Grillo
2022: Sam Burns
2021: Jason Kokrak
From this point, we have to take a look at who the odds-on favorites are to win the tournament. Here are the Top 5 favorites to win, and these odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:
Top 5 Odds
- Scottie Scheffler (+250)
- Jordan Spieth (+2200)
- Tommy Fleetwood (+2500)
- Daniel Berger (+2500)
- Hideki Matsuyama (+2800)
My Picks
Every time I produce picks, I break them down in the a variety of picks. You don’t have to make these plays, but this is where I’m leaning in this week’s contest. My favorite picks are players who are less than +2000 odds, with the long shot picks greater than +2000 odds. For this week’s event, here are my Favorite and Long Shot picks:
Favorite: Scottie Scheffler (+250)
Long Shot: Maverick McNealy (+3000)
The next phase of my picks are players who are slated to finish within a certain area on the leaderboard. The Top 5, 10, 20 picks also include ties, so if a player finished T-20 and you had them as a Top 20 pick, you win. Here are my plays, and the odds, for this week’s signature event:
Top 5
Maverick McNealy (+550)
Tommy Fleetwood (+450)
Top 10
Jordan Spieth (+220)
Aaron Rai (+260)
Top 20
Andrew Novak (+200)
Si Woo Kim (+150)
BONUS PICKS
Betting on golf is multi-faceted, and you can increase your odds on winning outside of the outright winner bet with different types of bonus bets. This would include the Double and Triple bets, but also different bets which can still get you plus odds. There are other specials plays, but we’ll save those for the big tournaments on the schedule. Here are my bonus plays for this week:
Double: Scottie Scheffler or Andrew Novak outright winner (+230)
Triple: Jordan Spieth, Aaron Rai, Shane Lowry outright winner (+800)
Winning Margin: 3 shots (+600)
