AEW Collision Interrupted by The Rock’s Movie

They say anything can happen on live TV. Last night, we discovered what can happen when a show is taped.

AEW taped Collision in Chicago after Dynamite went off the air on Wednesday. Fans watched the show last night on TNT.

With 30 minutes to go, the “Black Adam” movie started, robbing the fans of the final two matches. The Rock’s movie wasn’t a hit at the box office, but it did get in AEW’s way last night.

Tony Khan tweeted that he had hoped the West Coast feed would include the whole show, but it didn’t.

Fans watching on Triller TV+ had the show start an hour late, but at least they got to watch the whole episode.

DARK MATCHES

Let’s start with the matches the fans missed. Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara defeated Cru to earn an AEW tag team title shot.

The Sons of Texas already hold the Ring Of Honor tag team belts, and they will challenge The Hurt Syndicate at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 25.

In the main event, Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Wheeler Yuta with a spinebuster. Marina Shafir attacked Hobbs after the match, but Willow Nightingale made the save.

Speaking of The Death Riders, AEW World champion Jon Moxley announced that Gabe Kidd was on the team.

MEGASUS WINS AGAIN

Megan Bayne continued her strong run in the AEW women’s division with a victory over Anna Jay. “The Megasus” hit the Fate’s Descent (F5) for the win.

Kyle Fletcher pinned AR Fox after a brainbuster.

Brody King scored a much-needed win, teaming with Tomohiro Ishii & ROH champion Bandido to defeat Don Callis’s trio of Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero & Lance Archer.

CHALLENGING THE MASTER

Speedball Mike Bailey defeated Blake Christian before issuing a challenge to Continental champion Kazuchika Okada.

While waiting for “The Rainmaker,” Bailey was attacked by Rush and Dralistico.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith defeated The Gates of Agony in a hardcore brawl that included pool sticks, drywall, and a backpack full of bricks.

MONGO TRIBUTE

Ric Flair honored his fallen teammate in The Four Horsemen, Steve “Mongo” McMichael. Dean Malenko of the Horsemen was also on hand.

Announcer Tony Schiavone talked about Mongo’s transition from football to the wrestling broadcast booth to the ring. Schiavone said AEW would be working with a charity that seeks a cure for ALS.
