WWE Smackdown: The Road to Money in the Bank Begins

Solo Sikoa is trying rebuild the Bloodline … again.

He kicked off last night’s Smackdown in Greensboro, N.C., with U.S. champion Jacob Fatu and Jeff Cobb by his side. Cobb is now known as JC Mateo.

Later in the evening, Solo competed in a Money in the Bank qualifying match against Jimmy Uso and Rey Fenix.

After a distraction from Mateo, Sikoa hit the Samoan Spike on Fenix for the victory.

Alexa Bliss won the first women’s qualifying match, defeating Chelsea Green and Michin. Bliss delivered Bray Wyatt’s old “Sister Abigail” move to pin Green.

WOMEN’S TITLE WAR

Tiffany Stratton survived a brutal battle with Nia Jax to retain the WWE women’s title in the main event. Naomi and Jade Cargill invaded the match to continue their feud.

Jax hit the Annihilator on Stratton, who grabbed the ropes to avoid being pinned. Tiffy rallied to win with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.

Giulia may be a future challenger for Stratton, as General Manager Nick Aldis introduced her as the newest member of the Smackdown roster.

Nathan Frazier & Axiom continued their hot streak with a victory over #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa).

Frazier & Axiom will get a shot at The Street Profits next week for the WWE tag team championship.

MAIN EVENT MATCHES

R-Truth will wrestle John Cena next week on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Truth still considers Cena to be his hero, even though the WWE champion put him through a table at the Backlash press conference.

Drew McIntyre challenged Damien Priest to a steel cage match on the Main Event. McIntyre is seeking revenge after Priest chokeslammed him through a pair of tables.

Other matches set for Saturday Night’s Main Event are CM Punk & Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker & Seth Rollins; and World champion Jey Uso defending against Logan Paul.

OTHER BOUTS

Aleister Black defeated Carmelo Hayes by disqualification when The Miz interfered. Hayes and Miz delivered a 2-on-1 beatdown after the match.

JC Mateo won his WWE debut over LA Knight with the Tour of the Islands powerslam.

Here are next week’s Money in the Bank qualifying matches:

·      Charlotte Flair vs. Giulia vs. Zelina Vega

·      LA Knight vs. Aleister Black vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
