A Look at the San Antonio Spurs Lineup with Dylan Harper
The San Antonio Spurs came close to hitting the lottery but still came away with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Spurs have hit in the draft in each of the last two years with the likes of Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle winning the Rookie of the Year award.
Now, San Antonio has a chance to land another impact rookie — and all signs point to Rutgers star point guard Dylan Harper.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony came out with a report that the Spurs will be drafting Harper second overall. Duke’s Cooper Flagg will likely come off the board first and Harper will not be long after. The Spurs are building something in San Antonio and this is what the potential lineup could look like:
Potential San Antonio Spurs Lineup:
- PG: Dylan Harper
- SG: De’Aaron Fox
- SF: Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell
- PF: Harrison Barnes
- C: Victor Wembanyama
The Spurs made a big move by bringing in De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings. This improved the backcourt in a big way with rookie Castle, who translated flawlessly to the NBA.
There were talks of the Spurs attempting to trade the No. 2 overall pick after the Fox deal. It seems as though that will not happen and Harper will move into the backcourt. Now, this leaves San Antonio with another potential trade with Fox being sent away. It will be interesting to see if San Antonio finds a trade partner.
The lineup continues with Devin Vassell, who averaged 16.3 points per game last year. Harrison Barnes is under contract for one more year while Wembanyama will man the center position.
With the addition of Harper, the backcourt is loaded for the Spurs. Both Fox and Castle are proven commodities while Vassell has earned the right to play. The rotation will be deep at the guard position with Harper being another candidate for the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
