Travis Hunter and the Jaguars Rookies Arrive at Minicamp

With the 2025 NFL Draft said and done, it’s time for the league’s rookies to start arriving for orientation at their various clubs. But this 2025 rookie minicamp was a special one for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they welcomed one of the biggest headliners of this rookie class — Travis Hunter.

In the first couple of days of practice, Hunter has played on offense. After practice, head coach Liam Coen confirmed that next week Hunter will start to see some reps with the defense. “He’ll be able to get integrated next week on the defensive side of the ball. . . from [Friday] to [Saturday], we wanted to be able to clean up some of the things we have been able to miss [on Friday] and get extra reps on the offensive side of the ball. . . “.

The first-year Jaguar head coach also confirmed that Hunter has already been studying the defensive playbook and that the real test will be his ability to communicate with his teammates in the heat of battle.

Coach Coen was also pleased with the energy and excitement from his new guys. “The energy’s been good. The guys, I heard, were doing walkthroughs at the hotel the night before, and hopefully some of the leadership out of these guys will rise — but it’s been a good two days.

Coen also mentioned an undrafted free agent quarterback from Memphis, Seth Henigan, whom he brought into camp based on a recommendation from Buccaneer great Jon Gruden. He also shouted out leadership from Notre Dame draftee linebacker Jack Kiser.

Hunter also spoke to the media, commenting on his excitement to get onto the grass and practice with his fellow rookie Jaguars. When asked how he would approach avoiding doing too much too fast with high expectations, Hunter responded, “I’m definitely ready, but we’re going to take our time with it and get better each day.”

It was noted by reporters that on many a number of occasions, if a particular rep didn’t go right in a drill, Hunter would jump to the front of the line and run it again to perfect his actions.
