Cavs Lose Lead and Game 2 to the Pacers, 120-119
On Tuesday May 6th, 2025, at 7 pm eastern time the Eastern Conference number one seed Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 4th seed Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semi Finals series, at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers lost Game 1 at home last Sunday 121-112. Out for the Cavaliers was Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and De’Andre Hunter. The Pacers were without Isaiah Jackson for this game. The Cleveland Cavaliers were trying to even the series at one win for each team.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers out played the Pacers and led at the end of the opening quarter 32-15. In the second quarter the Pacers cut into the Cavaliers lead, but at halftime the Cavaliers led the Pacers 61-50. In the third quarter the Cavaliers pulled away to add to their lead. And after three quarters of play the Cavaliers led 98-84. In the fourth and final quarter the Pacers made a run, and the shorthanded Cleveland Cavaliers couldn’t hang on to the lead. After a last second Tyrese Haliburton three-point shot, the Cavaliers lost game two 120-119 and go down in the series 2-0.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 48 points in 36 minutes. Jarett Allen had another double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Up next for the Cleveland Cavaliers is game three on Friday May 9th, 2025, 7:30 pm eastern time, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse at Indianapolis Indiana. The top seeded Cleveland Cavaliers are going into Friday night down two games to zero. This comes as a surprise to Cleveland Cavaliers fans who came into this series with optimism. Now there is genuine concern from Cavaliers fans and the Cavaliers team as well. The best hope for this team is to get healthy and take it one game at a time. And the first one game is Friday night in Indianapolis.
