Toglia’s homer lone highlight in Rox loss to Braves

The Colorado Rockies’ struggles continued on Tuesday night as they fell 8-2 to the Atlanta Braves at Coors Field, marking their eighth consecutive loss and dropping their record to a league-worst 4-25.

Rockies starter Germán Márquez (0-5) endured another tough outing, surrendering seven runs over 5.2 innings, including a pivotal two-run single by Nick Allen in the fourth inning that extended Atlanta’s lead to 5-1. The Braves’ offense was relentless, amassing 14 hits. Michael Harris II contributed with a two-run double in the second inning, while Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley each added RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.

On the mound, Braves’ right-hander A.J. Smith-Shawver (1-2) delivered a solid performance, allowing two runs over 5.1 innings and striking out five. The Rockies’ offense was limited to six hits, with Michael Toglia providing a highlight with a solo home run in the second inning.

With this loss, the Rockies have now dropped 16 of their last 17 games, underscoring the team’s ongoing challenges this season. The Braves, improving to 14-15, have won nine of their last 11 games, showcasing a resurgence after a slow start to the season.

The two teams will conclude their three-game series on Wednesday, with the Rockies aiming to halt their losing streak and the Braves seeking a series sweep.
