2025 Sox Populi Top Prospect countdown: Nos. 55-51
Our Sox Populi staff combines their prospect lists each offseason, coming up with the Top 100 players in the system. We’ll be summarizing and counting them up here, five at a time, leading up to the regular season.
55
Mario Camilletti
Second Baseman
Birmingham Barons
Baseball Cube Rating 59.25
If you’re 5´9´´, your path to the majors has to involve smart strike zone management/high OBP. Camilletti has ridden that trait up to Double-A in relatively quick time.
54
Caden Connor
First Baseman
Winston-Salem Dash
Baseball Cube Rating 49.13
Connor mashed against must younger pitching to start his season (Kannapolis), then became a much more commonplace hitter upon promotion to the Dash. Picking on the weaker in this way might get him to the high minors, but the celebration will stop there.
53
Shawn Goosenberg
First Baseman
Birmingham Barons
Baseball Cube Rating 66.00
As a 2021 19th-rounder out of the baseball-coldbed of Northwestern University, Goosenberg has already surpassed all reasonable expectations for his pro career. At this point, however, the default first-sacker has his sights set on cracking The Show in Danny Mendick fashion.
52
Andre Lipcius
First Baseman
Charlotte Knights
Baseball Cube Rating 63.50
Imported from the Cleveland organization (via the Dodgers), this offseason free agent signing is a similar sort of jack-of-trades player as Goosenberg, only one who dominated Triple-A pitching in 2024. Lipcius has a power bat and defensive flexibility that earned him quite a bit of run in Spring Training and could provide a route to the South Side this summer.
51
Abraham Núñez
Center Fielder
ACL White Sox
Baseball Cube Rating 55.25
Núñez was the brightest Arizona bat short of Javier Mogollón in 2024. While the fleet center fielder forgot to pack his power from the DSL, in a first year Stateside and still rather young for level there is a ton of promise to still to come.
