3 Potential Trade Targets for Pittsburgh Steelers After Signing Aaron Rodgers
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially have their quarterback.
After months of speculation, Aaron Rodgers made his decision and has signed a one-year deal with the Steelers.
It has been a busy offseason for a Pittsburgh team that is looking to take the next step as a contender. The Steelers traded for and extended D.K. Metcalf before sending George Pickens to Dallas. Now, Rodgers is the man to run the offense next season before the franchise searches for the long-term option.
In hopes of competing right away, the Steelers could be looking to add another weapon for Rodgers. Below, check out three options that could be available right away.
3. Terry McLaurin
Terry McLaurin has been a true No. 1 receiver since coming to Washington in 2019. He took the next step with Jayden Daniels last season, setting a new franchise record with 13 touchdowns. McLaurin is currently negotiating a new contract to remain in D.C. A deal is likely to get done this offseason but the Steelers should be monitoring the situation just in case. McLaurin would be the perfect compliment to Metcalf on the other side of the offense.
2. Romeo Doubs
Doubs has been a work-in-progress for the Green Bay Packers over the course of his career. The Packers were going that Doubs turned into a No. 1 option but that has not come to fruition. Now entering his fourth year, he could be entering a situation where he could be moved. Doubs has yet to exceed 60 catches or 700 receiving yards in any season. A change of scenery could be good for a receiver like Doubs and playing with Rodgers would help right away.
1. Allen Lazard
Allen Lazard already made a move once for Rodgers. Could it happen again? After signing with the New York Jets, Rodgers seemingly brought award with him on a four-year deal. This pairing has not worked out, similar to the Rodgers’ situation. The Jets are moving in a new direction and it would make sense for Lazard to be on his way out. If he is available for a trade, the Steelers seem like the perfect destination. Rodgers would get one of his favorite receivers back while Pittsburgh gets a WR2 on the other side of Metcalf.
