3 Potential Trade Targets for Boston Red Sox Following Triston Casas Injury
The Boston Red Sox are at a crossroads at the moment.
The team currently sits at 22-23 and are on the verge of a free fall as we head toward the end of May. One major development was first baseman Triston Casas going down for the year with an injury.
If the Red Sox want to keep their heads above water in the AL East, the team might be looking for an upgrade at first base. These three players could be available and strong options in Boston.
3. Nathaniel Lowe, Washington Nationals
Lowe is a former Gold Glove winner that could bring consistency to first base in Boston. The Washington Nationals could be looking to move players like Lowe as a new generation comes up through the ranks. This season, Lowe is batting .226 with seven home runs and 30 RBI. He does this while playing Gold Glove caliber defense. His bat would bring little production but he plays everyday and is one of the top fielders in the game.
2. Josh Naylor, Arizona Diamondbacks
Could the Diamondbacks be looking to cash in on a hot start by Naylor? The 29-year-old is batting .299 with five home runs and 27 RBI this season. He is getting on base at a .368 clip. Naylor would bring immediate fire and personality to a Red Sox team in a loaded division. He is on a one-year deal in Arizona and could be a major trade piece come the deadline.
1. Rhys Hoskins, Milwaukee Brewers
Hoskins has a mutual option next year with the Brewers. At 32 years old, Hoskins is having a resurgence year, batting .292 with five home runs. He is a legitimate power threat in the middle of the lineup. Hoskins would fit in well with the likes of Alex Bregman and Rafael Devers, giving the Red Sox and difficult lineup to navigate for opposing pitchers. If the Red Sox make a big move for a first baseman, Hoskins should be at the top of the list.
