3 Best Trade Destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The end of an era might be coming for the Milwaukee Bucks.

On Monday, it was reported that Giannis Antetokounmpo has become “open-minded” about the idea of exploring a trade. At this point, that may be the best case for both sides.

If the 30-year-old MVP is available, many teams will be looking to make the big splash this offseason.

Below, check out three teams that might be at the forefront of conversations.

3. Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets might not be a win-now team but a trade for Giannis could change the course of the franchise — especially after landing eighth in the recent draft lottery. The Nets have a plethora of picks stashed away from the likes of the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. The Nets also have a group of young, cheap players that can be moved. Nic Claxton could be the biggest return. It is unknown if Brooklyn will be interested but this is one fit for Giannis.

2. San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs have nailed the draft in each of the last two years. San Antonio has won the Rookie of the Year award two years in a row. Victor Wembanyama is an untouchable but the question is, can Stephon Castle be traded? If the answer is yes, there is a road map to a deal that includes less draft picks. If Castle is out, the Spurs would have to up the offer in draft capital.

1. Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are the rare team that possesses both young talent and draft capital. The front office has set the team up in a good position to make a deal such as this. After finishing second in the West, the new window might be open for the Rockets. Houston has five picks that could go back from the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets, among others. The Rockets would also be able to part ways with prospects such as Reed Sheppard or even Jabari Smith Jr. It remains unlikely that Jalen Green is traded but he might be a non-negotiable on Milwaukee’s side. Nonetheless, the Rockets remain the top option to make the big splash for Giannis.
