3 Best Fits for WR Keenan Allen in Free Agency
NFL free agency might be well in the rearview but there are still many to-line players available.
Wide receiver Keenan Allen is near the top of the list.
Allen was traded to the Chicago Bears last offseason and is now looking for his next home. He logged 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
The injury-prone receiver has been one of the league’s best possession receivers when he is on the field. At 33 years old, Allen has some left in the tank about could benefit a team moving forward.
Below, check out three potential suitors for Allen as we approach the summer months.
3. Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals have yet to take that step as a team. There is great pressure on Kyler Murray heading into the season and a receiver like Allen would help aid in this pressure. He would also help alongside second-year receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and newly-signed Trey McBride. Arizona made changes defensively and major additions in the draft with Will Johnson and Walter Nolen. Now, it is time to bolster the offense and Allen is the perfect piece to do just that.
2. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons will be going into the season with first-year starter Michael Penix Jr. It would behoove the offense to have experience on the outside. Atlanta has some in Drake London and could add the perfect compliment in Allen. The Falcons have floated Kyle Pitts in trade rumors and this leaves a spot open within the offense. Allen was productive in a flawed Bears’ system last year with a brutal offensive line. Atlanta has the quarterback in place, a strong offensive line, and other pieces for defenses to focus on.
1. Los Angeles Chargers
Allen built an incredible career as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers. The team sent him to Chicago last offseason but there could be a return brewing. Los Angeles already brought back Mike Williams this offseason. He will now join second-year stud Ladd McConkey on the outside. Allen is comfortable with Justin Herbert and knows the organization well. The Chargers could improve the receiving core right away by making this move.
