2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Preview, Picks and Betting Odds

The PGA Tour is preparing for another event this weekend when the PGA Tour’s top players will descend on the TPC Louisiana golf course for the the next tournament of the year, the Zurich Classic. With this being a two-player team event, it is time to talk about who might be victorious this weekend and claim victory.

Some might think with the RBC Heritage, a signature event, last week the field would be rather sparce of top talent, but the PGA Tour has made this event something to watch. That means some of the game’s top talent will be on display in Louisiana this weekend.

Who will claim victory at the team event that is the Zurich Classic in 2025? Can Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy repeat as champions?

When it comes to making predictions/picks for golf, there is a method to my madness. The first step in the process is to take a look at the course, and past winners. Let’s see what the Zurich Classic has in store for fans this weekend:

Past Winners

2024: Rory McIlroy / Shane Lowry

2023: Davis Riley / Nick Hardy

2022: Xander Schauffele / Patrick Cantlay

2021: Cam Smith / Mark Lieshman

From this point, we have to take a look at who the odds-on favorites are to win the tournament. Here are the Top 5 favorites to win, and these odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:

Top 5 Odds

  • Rory McIlroy / Shane Lowry (+360)
  • Kurt Kityama / Collin Morikawa (+1200)
  • Thomas Detry  Robert McIntyre (+1800)

  • Taylor Moore / Wyndham Clark (+2000)

My Picks

Every time I produce picks, I break them down in the a variety of picks. You don’t have to make these plays, but this is where I’m leaning in this week’s contest. My favorite picks are players who are less than +2000 odds, with the long shot picks greater than +2000 odds. For this week’s event, here are my Favorite and Long Shot picks:

Favorite: Kurt Kityama / Collin Morikawa (+1200)

Long Shot: Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard (+2800)

The next phase of my picks are players who are slated to finish within a certain area on the leaderboard. The Top 5, 10, 20 picks also include ties, so if a player finished T-20 and you had them as a Top 20 pick, you win. Here are my plays, and the odds, for this week’s signature event:

Top 5

Kurt Kityama / Collin Morikawa (+260)

Billy Horschel / Tom Hoge (+550)

Top 10

Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard (+275)

Akshay Bhatia / Carson Young (+330)

Top 20

Alejandro Tosti / Joe Highsmith (+150)

Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick (+160)

BONUS PICKS

Betting on golf is multi-faceted, and you can increase your odds on winning outside of the outright winner bet with different types of bonus bets. This would include the Double and Triple bets, but also different bets which can still get you plus odds. There are other specials plays, but we’ll save those for the big tournaments on the schedule. Here are my bonus plays for this week:

With such a weird format, there are no bonus plays this week…
