2025 Texas A&M Football: Season Preview, Schedule & Predictions

2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Record: 8-5, Loss vs. USC in Las Vegas Bowl (35-31)

Texas A&M squandered an opportunity on opening night with a 23-13 loss to Notre Dame but was able to round. The Aggies put together seven straight wins, including triumphs over Missouri and LSU. From there, Texas A&M fell apart, losing three of its final four games. The season ended with a 35-31 showdown loss to USC during bowl season.

OFFENSE: Can the Aggies be Better than Average?

This is an offense that has struggled to move near the top of the SEC in recent years.

Texas A&M will hand the keys to Marcel Reed under center this season. He has been working forward this goal. Reed is an accurate passer and can use his legs to make plays as well. While Noah Thomas left for Georgia, the Aggies went out to get more pass catchers for Reed.

Mario Craver comes in from fellow SEC program Mississippi State as a deep-ball threat. He averaged 22 yards per reception last season. Jonah Wilson is another speedster on the outside who can take the top off a defense.

The Aggies also hit big on KC Conception coming in from N.C. State, where he caught 16 touchdowns over the last two years.

The offensive line will do Reed plenty of favors this season. Texas A&M returns all five starters with many being NFL-caliber linemen. Trey Zuhn III is a future NFL player at left tackle while Chase Bisontis will be a pro guard one day. Ar’maj Reed and Damatreious Crownover will hold down the right side.

This group will open holes for Le’Veon Moss next season. He rushed for 765 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024 before suffering a leg injury. With Moss back in the mix, the run game for the Aggies has a chance to be near the top of the SEC.

DEFENSE: Aggies Need to Return to Applying Pressure

It will be a new-look defensive front this season after two Aggies were selected in the top two rounds during last year’s draft.

The edge will rely on transfers TJ Searcy and Damon Hayes, who will get the chance to shine. The interior has a better plan, which will be important to stop the run in a conference that is led by the trenches. Albert Regis is a big body in the middle and brings experience as a returning starter. Iowa State transfer Tyler Onyedim will also be in the mix.

Taurean York is back after leading the team in tackles with 82 last season. He will be among the team’s leaders in the middle, with Scooby Williams following his return from an injury.

The secondary will have to improve this season. It struggled in 2024 and this led to some offensive explosions by opponents. Will Lee is an All-Conference cornerback who returns after 42 tackles and two interceptions. The opposite side will includes the likes of Dezz Ricks and Georgia transfer Julian Humphrey.
