2025 Nebraska Football: Season Preview, Schedule And Predictions

2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Record: 6-6, Win in Boston College in Pinstripe Bowl (20-15)

It was a roller-coaster season for the Huskers last season. After a win against Rutgers, Nebraska moved to 5-1. It would go onto lose four consecutive games before slitting the final two. Nebraska ended the season with a victory against Boston College during bowl season.

OFFENSE: Raiola is Major X-Factor

Dylan Raiola came in as a five-star freshman for the Huskers last season. He is one of the major factors that gives fans hope that the program will turn around. In year one, he looked like a freshman. Now, Raiola is expected to take the next step in the offense.

Raiola will do so with new wide receivers. Jahmal Brooks and Isaiah Neyor are gone. Nebraska will now work with Jacory Barney and transfer Dane Key.

Dante Dowdell is also gone in the backfield after scoring 12 touchdowns. Emmett Johnson will now step into an extended role after being second on the team with 600 rushing yards last season. Raiola and the backs will work behind an offensive line that does not live up to the standard in Lincoln.

Nebraska returns three starters and this gives hope that the line can take the next step. Former Alabama tackle Elijah Pritchett comes in to anchor one side as well, which is a huge boost.

DEFENSE: The Talent is There at All Levels

Nebraska does not have a ton of star power on the defensive side of the ball but the talent is strong at all three levels.

It begins along the defensive line, where Elijah Jeudy and Cam Lenhardt provide a pass rush. The rush as a whole will have to improve but the horses are in place.

If there is a star defensively, it might be Dasan McCullough. The transfer will be the leader in the middle after a good sophomore year at Oklahoma. Javin Wright and Vincent Shavers will also take steps up the depth chart this season. Watch out for Marques Watson-Trent from Georgia Southern as well.

The secondary is experienced with Malcolm Hartzog moving to safety. He will work with DaShon Singleton, who was second on the team with 71 tackles last season. Andrew Marshall comes in from Idaho to man one side of the field and improve the corners.
