2025 NBA Draft: 3 Best Options for Charlotte Hornets at No. 4

There has been plenty of discussion around the first three picks in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Duke’s Cooper Flagg is expected to go first-overall while the duo from Rutgers has a chance to be the next two players selected.

The Charlotte Hornets are right on the outside with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. If Ace Bailey makes it down to four, this seems like a good fit for the Hornets. If not, there are still plenty of weapons that could become the next franchise player.

Below, check out three potential options for Charlotte at No. 4.

3. Tre Johnson

Johnson has a chance to become one of the biggest steals in the draft — depending on how far he falls down the draft board. He scored 19.9 points per game last season while shooting 39.7% from three-point range. The Texas product is arguably the best pure scorer in the draft. How can a team pass up on this opportunity? He would be a strong compliment to LaMelo Ball in the backcourt. He averaged just 2.7 assists per game so there are some questions about his ability to play without the ball. That’s just a nitpick. Johnson is a shot creator and shot maker who’s skills will translate well to the NBA.

2. Kon Knueppel

Knueppel excelled on an elite Duke team last season. He scored 14.4 points per game while shooting 40.6% from deep. Knueppel is one of the best shooters in the draft and bring solid size on the wing. With dynamic weapons such as Ball and Brandon Miller, with former Blue Devil, Mark Williams at center, Knueppel would have plenty of looks from deep.

1. VJ Edgecombe

Edgecombe has quickly become known as one of the best two-way players in the draft. He brings great athleticism with an ability to create his own shot offensively. Along with this, he is an elite defender. The Hornets have certain players in place, as we have discussed. Edgecombe would not get in the way at any position. Instead, he would give the Hornets a reliable swingman that can get it done on both ends of the floor. In his one year at Baylor, Edgecombe scored 15 points per game while shooting 34% from three-point range. If Bailey is off the board, Edgecombe is the next best thing.
