The Milwaukee Brewers were three outs away from advancing in the postseason with Devin Williams on the mound.

Williams threw a changeup over the middle to Pete Alonso and the rest is history. The Brewers dealt their All-Star closer to the New York Yankees and received help back in the rotation in Nestor Cortes. He will be part of a rotation that will feature Freddy Peralta and Jose Quintana. There is plenty of experience there as Milwaukee looks to compete in the NL Central once again. Trevor Megill will likely take over for Williams in the closer role.

Jackson Chourio is one of the youngest players in baseball but already has a long-term deal keeping him in Milwaukee. He signed an eight-year contract before ever taking an at-bat and made the Brewers look like geniuses. He is a cornerstone piece of this team moving forward.

Willy Adames is not in San Francisco and this opens the door for Joseph Ortiz at shortstop. He was drafted at a shortstop and will likely be the choice as Brice Turang can take second base. Either way, the middle is young and promising. Rhys Hoskins suffered a torn ACL in 2023 but returned and hit 26 home runs last year. Christian Yelich also patrols the top of the lineup as a former MVP.

The NL Central improved this offseason with teams finding depth and star power in many ways. The Brewers might be out of the mix but could return to the postseason if all goes right.
