2025 MLB Season Preview: Cincinnati Reds Continue To Rebuild
The Cincinnati Reds have some of the most explosive players in the game but outside of the top, it is a team full of holes and low expectations.
Of course, we begin with shortstop Elly De La Cruz. Since coming up to the bigs, De La Cruz has shown off insane speed on the base paths and incredible range and arm strength in the field. De La Cruz is among the young stars in the game and is a cornerstone for the Reds moving forward. Now, it is important to surround De La Cruz with talent.
Cincinnati attempted to do so by bringing in Gavin Lux in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is another blossoming star that can provide depth behind Matt McLain in the infield, who was second in Rookie of the Year voting in 2023. This was a big move since the Reds moved Jonathan India to Kansas City.
Hunter Greene leads the rotation for the Reds with an electric fastball. He has struggled with control, and injuries last season, but as he matures, Greene has a chance to be great in the league. In the India trade, Cincinnati brought in Brady Singer as another young option that can emerge at the top of the rotation. Cincinnati will likely ride its pitching this season with a lineup that is not extremely deep.

The Reds are an incomplete team with low expectations once again in the National League. It is an improved division in the NL Central and Cincinnati does not have a road to the title. It seems to be another year without the postseason for the Reds as the team continues to build.
