2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Record: 4-8

It was a disasters season for Kentucky in 2024. The Wildcats got off to a 3-2 start after an upset of Ole Miss in late September. From there, Kentucky ended the season losing six of the final seven games of the year — with the only win coming against Murray State.

OFFENSE: Might Not Be Explosive But Must Be Better

The Wildcats need to bounce back this season.

It was a disappointing year for the program in 2024 but the offense might have some horses this fall. It begins in the backfield.

There is an intriguing duo to carry the ball with transfer Dante Dowdell and Jason Patterson, who doubles as a receiver.  Dowdell, who comes over from Nebraska, will likely get the chance to be the lead back.

Zach Calzada will step in as the starting quarterback after some time at Texas A&M. While he was never the full-time starter, Calzada got some experience that will help right away.

Alabama transfer Kendrick Law came in to be the top weapon on the outside and replace Dane Key, who left in the portal.

DEFENSE: It Is Time to Put Together a Full Season

Kentucky defense battled early but could not stay consistent over the course of the season.

The Wildcats’ secondary brings back plenty of firepower, which was on the bench last season. Jordan Lovett is an experienced safety that is is expected to turn into a star.

In the middle, Alex Afari brings great speed sideline to sideline. USC transfer Sam Greene will also man the middle of the field.

Kentucky will face a difficult schedule in 2025 and the defense needs to step up and remain consistent.
