2025 Army Football: Season Preview, Schedule And Predictions
2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW
Record: 12-2, Win vs. Louisiana Tech in Independence Bowl (27-6)
It was a memorable season for Army. The Knights began with a 9-0 record with each game being decided by double-digits. Army ran into a buzzsaw in Notre Dame before winning two in a row heading into the greatest matchup in sports against Navy. The Knights did not perform up to par but ended the season with a victory in bowl season.
OFFENSE: Run Game Will Have to Replace Daily
It is no secret that Army’s offense goes as far as the run game will take it.
The Knights will have the difficult task of replacing 1,000-yard rusher Bryson Daily but Dewayne Coleman will do his best to step into the quarterback role. He brings great quickness to the offense, which will help run the option.
Along with Daily, Army also lost top running back Kanye Udoh to Arizona State. Noah Short will step into the lead back role as an all-around player.
The offense line was a major selling point for the team last season — which is important within the offense that Army runs. The interior will be as as strong as ever with center Brady Small returning. Paolo Gennarelli will also be back at one of the guard positions.
DEFENSE: Do Your Job
The Army defense was good enough against the schedule that it played. We saw what happened when the team took on Notre Dame but it is not a crack schedule each week.
This season is more of the same and the defense should be good enough once again.
It was a secondary that flew around each week in 2024. Army was sixth in the nation with 18 interceptions. While the corners will be new, Justin Weaver returns after logging two of those interceptions. Casey Larkin is an experienced leader ay safety while Gavin Shields has a chance to be the star.
Up front, the interior will be relied upon heavily. Andon Thomas and Kalib Fortner will make up an elite duo of big bodies in the conference. Fortner was first on the team with 9.5 tackles for loss last season.
