10 Best NFL Matchups Ahead of 2025 Schedule Release

The full release of the NFL schedule is right around the corner and fans will soon be able to plan trips to see their favorite teams play.

So, what are the best matchups for the upcoming season?

There will be many primetime games announced early before the full slate on Wednesday night. There are many elite matchups between the league’s best that will be entertaining from the opening weeks.

Below, check out 10 games that we have our eye on ahead of the schedule release.

10. Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills

Joe Burrow and the Bengals have not made the playoffs in three years. The team is as unbalanced as there is right now but the offense remains elite. That will continue to be the case with both Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins signed long-term.

9. Washington Commanders at Kansas City Chiefs

Jayden Daniels has put Washington back on the map. After a trip to the NFC Championship Game last season, Daniels and the Commanders have plenty of hype — and have improved the team. A matchup between Daniels and Patrick Mahomes will be must-see.

8. Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers

The Texans did not waste time running away from the Chargers in the postseason. The battle between CJ Stroud and Justin Herbert did not live up to the hype but it is an intriguing matchup on paper that will gain plenty of attention.

7. Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers

This ranking is completely dependent on Aaron Rodgers landing in Pittsburgh, which seems like a possibility at this moment. Rodgers leading the Steelers in front of a packed crowd against his former team is as good a storyline as there is.

6. Detroit Lions at Washington Commanders

The Lions will get a rematch of the NFC Divisional Round last season. An injured Lions’ defense could not stop Daniels and the high-powered offense of the Commanders. This time around, the game will be played in front of a revitalized D.C. crowd.

5. Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills

Arguably the biggest non-division rivalry in football right now. Mahomes and Allen have battled time after time in the postseason with the Chiefs getting the best of the Bills. Last year, the Bills took down Mahomes and the Chiefs in the regular season. The two will meet again after Harrison Butker sent Kansas City to the Super Bowl once again with a late field goal.

4. Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles (2x)

A divisional matchup in the NFC title game was as exciting as it gets. Washington did not keep up in the second half but has improved the roster across the board. We know that these two teams will square off in a double-header on Saturday, Dec. 20. Both games will be headliners on any given weekend.

3. Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Did Josh Allen steal last year’s MVP award from Lamar Jackson? That was a major topic of conversation after the NFL Awards. Here, the two will get the chance to face off once again. A matchup between two of the league’s best quarterbacks will be as exciting as ever.

2. Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles

These are not only the two best teams in the NFC but there is a chance the Eagles and Lions top the league overall. This was expected to be the NFC Championship Game last season but the Commanders had other plans. Could it be a preview of what’s to come this postseason?

1. Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs

It is always exciting when there is a Super Bowl rematch in the following year. The Eagles picked apart the Chiefs in last year’s final game but the Chiefs will not have to wait long to attempt to get revenge. This will likely be one of the biggest primetime games of the year.
